One big lie

FBI Agent Reed Markham has dedicated his life to hunting down the most vicious killers. But he never solved one crime. A murder over 40 years old. The murder of his own mother.

Camilla was brutally stabbed to death while little Reed lay in his cradle just a few feet away, and Las Vegas police were never able to identify the perpetrator. The trail went cold and time moved on.

But that would change forty years later, when a family secret comes to light, that will shake everything up, what Reed knew so far about his origins, about the parents and the adoptive father, Senator Angus Markham. Suddenly it seems the killer was hiding much closer than Reed thought all along.

The only one he can confide in is his East Coast girlfriend, suspended police officer Ellery Hathaway. Ellery knows about family problems and psychopathic killers. She, too, lives in the shadow of a painful past, and even hers has been trying to catch up with her lately, so she welcomes the opportunity to leave Massachusetts for a few weeks and relocate to hot Las Vegas.

Far from home and having to rely only on each other, Ellery Reed helps to unravel the fate of young Camilla and the twisted history of the Markham family. They both realize that a dangerous killer is waiting for them at the end of this journey – the same one that's been hiding there for almost half a century. And it's very clear to them that after all these years, he's definitely not going to just give up.
