Odysseia
The Odyssey is, alongside the Iliad, the second epic poem attributed to Homer. It is an extensive epic poem written in dactylic hexameter, which follows on from the events depicted in the Iliad.
According to modern research (primarily computer analysis), it seems that the Odyssey was strongly influenced by the Iliad, but that it was written 50–100 years later, perhaps at the end of the 8th century BC. It has 12,111 verses divided into 24 books, which are denoted by the capital letters of the Greek alphabet.
The influence of this work on Greek mythology and on European culture is significant, although perhaps less so than that of the Iliad.
