Night Swan
Nix: Daughter of Darkness
Being born with an aptitude for black magic isn’t pleasant. Being murdered at seventeen is even less so. Both happened to Nix, and yet she lives. How? Let's be frank, there's something not quite right with that girl. Nix is a strange cross between a necromancer and a lich, an irresponsible brat and a cynical girl with whom fate has not been kind. Most of the time, she's accompanied by a hulking minotaur you wouldn't want to cross. But in a world of two magical factions, Nix is a fugitive who must carve out her place in the sun and overcome not only her enemies, but above all, herself.
A novel of short stories from Accad – the dark, magical world of author Zuzana Hartmanová.
Zuzana Hartmanová
Born under the sign of Taurus in 1990 in the famous Kolín plains, she has probably put down permanent roots there. From a young age, she has known that a book is a person's best friend, a relationship she diligently tries to strengthen. She works as a librarian in the digitisation department of the Municipal Library in Prague and is currently enjoying her maternity leave. She mainly reads fantasy but also enjoys a good historical or detective novel. She debuted with the short story novel Noční labuť (Night Swan) (Gorgona, 2017), in which she first introduced the necromancer Nix. The sorceress's story continues in the follow-up novel Perutě noci (Wings of the Night) (Gorgona, 2019). You can also read her short story Kruhy na hladině (Ripples on the Water) in the anthology Žena s labutí (The Woman with the Swan) (Fortna, 2018).
