An encounter with the night butterfly can mean pleasure, or death.
September 1489. Mojmír Mráz of Žezlice, an agent of the Moravian provincial court, arrives at the castle of an old friend to investigate the death of his granddaughter. The girl had disappeared among a troupe of travelling players, to whom she had fled to escape an arranged marriage—but she could not escape her sad fate.
The trail leads to a remote town in the middle of the Moravian forests, where a series of strange murders is currently terrorising its peaceful citizens. It is said that twelve years ago, a fairy known as the Night Butterfly appeared in the area, and an encounter with her meant either pleasure or death. Now, it seems that someone has summoned the spectre again, and the old fear is taking on a new form.
However, Mojmír does not believe that the murders are the work of a diabolical being and just retribution for lust and greed. He sets out to find a killer of flesh and blood, whose dark intentions, hidden behind the attacks of the ethereal fairy, are gradually coming to the surface.
