Narrated by Nina Divíšková

Czech actress and owner of a captivating alto voice, NINA DIVÍŠKOVÁ was born on 12th July 1936 in Brno. She graduated from DAMU and, along with her future husband, actor and director Jan Kačer, took her first job in Ostrava. They married in 1962. Together, they also moved to Prague to join the Činoherní klub (Drama Club). Due to her anti-communist stance, Nina Divíšková was not cast in television or film roles. Her husband, Jan Kačer, was also forced to leave the theatre for political reasons and spent ten years directing, primarily in Ostrava on weekdays, returning to his family only sporadically. By then, they already had three daughters, so the entire burden of caring for the household and children fell on Nina Divíšková's shoulders. She devoted all her energy to her family and managed to overcome life's complex challenges with perspective. In 2001, Nina Divíšková decided to leave the Drama Club. She made guest appearances on many Prague stages, the most important of which became the Dejvické divadlo (Dejvice Theatre). Paradoxically, she found success in front of the camera only later in life. She excelled as the mother in the film *Příběhy obyčejného šílenství* (Tales of Common Insanity), for which she received nominations for a Thalia Award and a Czech Lion. The television series *Vyprávěj* (Tell Me a Story) made her a national star. Her character, Běta the grandmother, is the personification of quiet defiance and humour, which precisely mirrored the actress's own civic attitudes. Divíšková thus became a beloved face to millions of viewers at a time when most of her peers were no longer leading active artistic lives. Our new compilation album is dedicated to her recitation work for Supraphon between 1969 and 1989. This title is intended for digital stores only.
