My dear Death
Death came into my path without warning and turned my life completely upside down. And though my situation may have looked dire on the outside, I began to blossom on the inside. I don't know how it happened. And I don't take any credit for it. But it awakened in me such a certainty that I couldn't go wrong on my next journey through life that I became completely immune to everything our society says about death.
That death is evil, final, unjust, black. I, on the other hand, began to perceive death as loving, reconciliatory, enriching, peaceful. And since death affects every single one of you reading these lines (unless they invent artificial bodies into which we can transfer our consciousness and become immortal cyborgs), I feel a strong urge to sow the seeds of debate among people that death is beautiful in its nature.
I would like to use my experience to begin to rid death of all the blackness we have put on it in our society. I would like to pull her out of the corner where we have put her to wait for us silently and menacingly. I wish death would come back into our lives. I wish we could let her cross our threshold without fear and seat her in the seat of honor at our table.
I am convinced from the bottom of my soul that death belongs in life. The consciousness of death is supposed to show us what kind of life we should live. Acceptance of death is meant to give us confidence that we are on the right path. Without death there is no life.
About the book they said.
Blanka Javor, To the Roots
"Dear Vera, I just wanted to let you know that I finished the book today. And I am deeply happy for her. The last twelve days with her have been very intense - she brings such an intense brightness to the experience. I've never met a book that made my tears flow so much. Relief, joy, sadness, understanding. And who could always make me laugh at the right time. One gets a lot of cleansing while reading it.
I love this book so deeply. And I feel transformed by reading it. "
Tereza Kramerová, Conscious Life
"I expected it to be a unique read that would wash my eyes and blow my nose. But the reality went even deeper. Veronika puts death in a context that will take you on a journey to your inner values, transform them and pull you into consciousness. I consider this book to be a therapeutic endeavor that touches on Zen wisdom and the most jaded of human feelings. I recommend it for reading and reflection to those who are willing to perceive the subject of death from a different angle than is common in our culture. "
