Mukumu

Mukumu. A mysterious-sounding word, yet it echoes every day on a tiny island lost somewhere in the north. Only one family lives here: a dad, a mom and a little girl. And then there are the cows. Every now and then a seal's head peeks out of the water. The little girl would love to find a friend here. Will she make it? < br> The full-colour picture book with illustrations by Pavla Baštanová and text by Lucie Šavlíková has its predecessor in the animated film that Pavla finished her studies at the Academy of Arts and Crafts. She was inspired by a working stay on a farm on a Norwegian island. The film's haunting poetry and brooding atmosphere earned it entry to numerous international festivals, garnering critical praise and positive feedback from children and adults alike. < br> < br> The publication of the book was supported by the Ministry of Culture of the Czech Republic.
