Kobkan and family honor: A satirical fairy tale about love and embarrassments of Czech businessmen
A satirical picture from the life of Czech small businessmen at the beginning of the 20th century depicts the travails of a big businessman, Kobkan, whose daughter has forgotten herself with a certain "Mr. Engineer". So Mr Kobkan is not only marrying off his daughter, but at the same time saving the family honour and good name that is in danger.
The radio version of the dramatization was recorded in 1975. It was directed by the then excellent radio director Josef Melč. František Hanus was cast in the lead role of Grand Master Kobkan, his wife was played by Libuše Havelková, and his daughter Matylda, whose marriage is the subject of the play, was represented by Eva Klepáčová.
