Mirko Stieber: Two

Tragicomedy Two (1979, original title Paganini and Frištenský) is set in a psychiatric hospital during the last days of World War II. Two patients, one of whom thinks of himself as the famous violinist Paganini and the other as the wrestler Fristensky, spend their regular afternoon walks watching a young woman. During one such surveillance, however, they are surprised by a German patrol. In the closed environment of the hospital, the author relativises generally accepted models of behaviour and plays with the essence of the Czech national character. Zdeněk Martínek and Čestmír Řanda will play the main roles in the radio adaptation of the legendary director Jiří Horčička's play.
