Melancholy 3: Timelessness

Another terrifying and suspenseful thriller from the acclaimed writing duo, this is a story about identity and what happens when we abandon our roles and set off on a path outside our environment and even time itself. Is it even possible? Or are we hopelessly bound by our material circumstances? A young girl boards a freight train in northern Sweden and ends up in Stockholm. She is arrested during a fight, and an investigation begins to determine her identity. The case is taken on by police officers Jeanette Kihlberg, Jimmy Schwarz, and Nils Ahlund, and it soon becomes clear that this is no simple matter. The girl's presence is linked to two murders in the suburbs, and with each new clue, the already tangled pattern of facts becomes even more complicated. At the same time, the book launch for writer Per Qviding's latest novel is taking place. It tells the story of a girl who grew up in northern Sweden at the end of the 19th century and is forced to emigrate to the United States due to famine. Qviding's novel intertwines with the ongoing investigation, and the parties involved find themselves in a dramatic race against time.
