Marný křik

A young woman is attacked in her own flat in the middle of the night. The assailant injures her but leaves her alive, then calls her colleague, Inspector Victor Venturi, to give him the names of five women he has kidnapped and tortured. He cryptically adds that the game has just begun.

What kind of game is this? Are the women still alive? And why does the perpetrator, known as the Monster, keep communicating with the police?

The young psychologist who was targeted in the attack joins forces with a seasoned detective to launch an investigation. Alongside this mismatched detective duo, nicknamed Mentolka and Cowboy, Julien Dastray runs his own parallel investigation in private.

Set in modern-day France, this story offers a gripping plot, graphic scenes and well-rounded main characters who do not pull their punches but complement each other perfectly. Their tireless professional cooperation, aided covertly by Dastray, has a single goal: to save the missing women and capture the attacker.
