Marisha

A realistic drama in five acts from the authorial duo, brothers Alois and Vilém Mrštík. The story of Maryša, a farmer's daughter, and the poor Francek takes place in a nineteenth-century Moravian village. The dialogue uses the dialect characteristic of the region. Maryša is forced by her parents to marry the widower Vávra, whose only interest is to settle his debts with the girl's property. Francek leaves for the army, only to return years later and present his beloved Maryša with a moral dilemma. Illustrated by Petra Antonovová.
