Lower respiratory tract, lung and pleural infections

The book discusses in detail infectious diseases of the lower respiratory tract from the trachea to the terminal bronchioles, the lung parenchyma and the pleural and pleural cavity areas. These disabilities are among the most common, not only infectious, diseases affecting humanity. Many of them are characterized by significant morbidity and mortality. Their occurrence is modified by demographic changes, environmental changes, and medical developments, for better or worse. An example that shows us how these diseases can still surprise and threaten us is the COVID-19 infection. We cannot rule out further, and unfortunately possibly more serious, respiratory infections in the future.

The book brings a comprehensive holistic" view of these infectious diseases, or rather of a person who is sick with them. Diagnosis and treatment of these diseases are primarily in the hands of pulmonologists, but as the large team of authors of this publication shows, in many cases multidisciplinary cooperation in patient care is necessary. Attention is focused not only on the traditional diagnostic and treatment concept, but a worthy place is also given to rehabilitation, psychological support and nursing care within the framework of a holistic view of the patient.

The book is intended for internists, to general practitioners, pneumologists, surgeons, intensivists, infectious disease specialists and medical students.
