Love and cheese in Paris

Ella is full of anticipation and excitement as she prepares for dinner with her boyfriend of over eight years. It seems that the moment is finally coming when he proposes to her. Dinner, however, ends in a surprising break-up. Heartbroken and on the verge of her thirties, Ella decides to leave Melbourne, move to Paris and finally start living a different, more adventurous life. He doesn't know the language, he doesn't know anyone there and he doesn't know what he's going to do for a living.

Yet he quickly finds work in Paris – washing dishes in the cafeteria – and like any cheese lover, he soon discovers the local cheese shop. Serge, the owner, readily advises her on which types of cheese to try.

It doesn't take long before Ella finds herself between two men from opposite ends of the Parisian culinary scene. While the perfectly charming Gaston, a food-review journalist, invites her to dinner and wine and is the epitome of a girl's French dreams, he and the friendly Serge from the cheese shop make an ill-advised bet that they will taste a different kind of French cheese every day of the year. If Ella wins the bet, Serge invites her to a fancy Parisian restaurant for dinner; if she doesn't, she invites him – which she'd have to save up for. Ella will start a photo diary of her „ Syro-Roman adventure“ and soon has hundreds of fans. And all the more incentive to win the bet.
