Sequel to the young adult novel Shards of Time
Jana and Peter managed to win a duel with the dreaded wizard Mabrok and not lose their lives in the process. This, however, did not resolve their situation, but rather set in motion unexpected events. Both are struggling to cope with many unexpected twists and turns while finding their way to each other. However, it is not at all easy. While she is just getting to know him, he knows everything about her. Or so they think, because time travel is somewhat erratic. Jana discovers that living with someone in real life is not the way she had painted it in her romantic fantasies. Especially when it comes to a powerful sorcerer who tailors the truth to suit his needs. Peter wanted to start a new life, but it's not easy - for some people he is a criminal, for others he is a traitor. A struggle for power and control over Ostrava begins and Peter has only one thing to do - to take the place of his former master.

If young adult literature can be accused of conforming to general tastes, skimming the surface and paying little attention to artistic quality, none of this applies to Petra Slováková's novel. It is dominated by admirable imagery, an ambiguous view of good and evil and polished, plastic language.

Petra Slováková
(born. 1987) comes from Ostrava. She graduated from Mendel University in Brno. In Slovakia, she has published a collection of short stories Železonoc a jiné podivnosti (2012), a collection of two cyberpunk novels Cricket in a Box (2012) and a steampunk novel Demon from the East End (2015), which was nominated for the Aeronautilus Award. She has appeared in the field of young adult literature with her novels Shards of Time (2019) and Lord of the Magicians (2020). Her work has appeared abroad in the anthologies Dreams from Beyond (2016) and Steampunk Writers Around the World (2017).
