Two short stories from the popular author of the crime series about the Copenhagen police department Q
In the short story Small Spicy Murders we meet Lars Hvilling Hansen, who leads an essentially ordinary life. Until his wife leaves him and he finds himself in financial distress. So Lars has to consider all the options. Luckily, he gets a sensational business idea! He points out that women can sometimes be really outspoken: with their hairdresser or best friend, calmly discussing how best to get rid of their husband. Yes, for a reasonable fee, Lars will free women from their husbands. Only the blood must not flow at any cost. And success does come - Lars earns a decent income, demand is high and his method is unassailable. But then something happens that fundamentally shakes up his new double life...
In the short story The Quilt the author plays with the motif of the Second World War, which he also explores in his series on Department Q. You may discover the point long before the main character, but the gradual, well thought out unraveling of the story will entertain and perhaps even scare you a little. Moreover, the story will definitely make you think. It shows more than meets the eye.
