Les amalgames lexicaux en français contemporain

This work explores the phenomenon of lexical blends in French – words created by combining segments from several lexemes, such as franglais or courriel. Drawing on a corpus from Wiktionary and the results of the neological monitoring tool Néoveille, Radka Mudrochová examines in detail their formal structure and their morphological, phonological, and pragmatic functioning. She builds on existing typologies, adapting and deepening them to analyse these formations in different types of discourse. The study highlights their presence in various registers – from literature to technical terminology – and questions their recognition in contemporary dictionaries. This book is aimed at linguists, neologists, lexicographers, and all those interested in innovative forms of lexical creation.
