What can be achieved when good people unite against evil?
The year is 19s36 and the Nazis are nothing but primitive neo-nazis in the eyes of fifteen-year-old Stephan Neuman, a budding playwright and son of a wealthy Viennese Jewish family, and his best friend, the mathematically gifted Sophie-Helena. When Hitler's forces are set in motion, the carefree innocence of the two young people takes hold.
But there is hope in the darkness. Truus Wijsmuller, a Dutch woman, risks her own life smuggling children from Nazi-occupied countries to countries willing to accept them. Tante Truus, as everyone calls her, is determined to save as many children as possible. So when Great Britain decides to accept underage refugees from the Reich, it even dares to negotiate with Adolf Eichmann. They're in a race against time to get hundreds of children to safety.
And Stephan and Sophie-Helena also embark on an adventurous journey.
