Last summer

A provocatively cheeky confession by a young girl about the complicated time of growing up. Forbidden love, defining oneself against teachers and parents, dreams and hopes that inevitably clash with reality. How to grow and find your own way when those from whom you expect an answer are not honest with you? In an energetic and linguistically sovereign diary-like narrative, the author gives a glimpse into the inner transformation of the artistically gifted Hana in the turbulent period between her fifteenth and nineteenth years, a time of great change and a search for self, and makes the eternally topical Lolita motif of the relationship between a mature man and a girl on the verge of adulthood. "Return to the turbulent period of adolescence" DOROTA AMBROŽOVÁ (*1994) comes from Olomouc. She studied Radio and Television Dramaturgy and Screenwriting at the JAMU in Brno. In addition to his work as an author, he also writes cultural journalism. She hosts the cultural podcast Speak to Her, works as a documentary filmmaker for Memory of the Nation, and collaborates with the Creative Czechia platform. She is married, has two children, lives and works in Olomouc. Last Summer is her literary debut.
