King's Ransom

It is extremely busy in Bohemia. The Czech lords have captured King Wenceslas and are imprisoning him in an unknown place. Jakub Protiva, a speedster from Protivec, has a lot of trouble with a gang of extortionists and arsonists who are terrorizing the whole of Prague's New Town. In addition, someone stole the unique monastery treasure of the Augustinians in Charles and disappeared without a trace.

The desperate town clerk is already thinking of resigning his office and returning to his native stronghold in southern Bohemia. Especially when his friend, the monk Blasius, refuses to help him, he sits in the Black Brewery at the Cattle Market and turns one beer after another into himself.
