Jules Verne: The Fifteen-Year-Old Captain

The plot of Verne's The Fifteen-Year-Old Captain does not take place twenty thousand miles under the sea, on the moon or on a comet flying through deep space to an unknown destination. It's a story that could have actually happened without having to involve some subversive invention of the kind that abounds in Verne's books in the game of fate. But it's a breathless adventure, full of surprising twists and turns and unexpected situations. Just listen and let your imagination run wild. What's it like to experience an adventure story in the middle of a rough sea on an unmanned sailboat? A state in chains in a slave market? Floating down a river on a native boat in the middle of an African jungle full of man-eaters? To experience fear, terror, but also the joy of meeting loved ones, the feeling of victory?
