JOY D. D.
D. D. JOY is a captivating reconstruction of a lost fate and an official file.
The author behind the story, Dr. Horáčka, searches for the last days of a man who sacrificed himself so that today' s times could be at least as crazy as they seem. D. D. Joy is not about the private joy of a sooty official, but about the dimension of humanity' s foolishness, which in the story is represented by the small Czech people, good in their joy and relentless in their improvisation. The work pays tribute to pre-November psychiatry, which was often misused for political pressure and class struggle (the exception, as is well known, often proves the rule). This is one of the milder cases.
The text quotes previously unpublished verses by the poet Pumlický, commemorating the anniversary of his death, which falls this year.
The book tells the story of lawyer Horáček, who is assigned to investigate the existence of an unusual associated production of the Radost collective farm in socialist Czechoslovakia in the early 1980s. JZD Radost promises its " clients" true happiness. It attracted customers to the rural environment, beautiful people, and associated production, without actually revealing anything specific. Horáček, a young and completely inexperienced lawyer, is sent by his superiors to conduct a thorough inspection of the JZD. Years later, Dr. ' s desk is found in a Libeň junk shop. A torch and a forgotten file on the entire case in a drawer. and here our story begins (fortunately, the drawer did not end up in the collections of the National Literature Museum, but in the carefree hands of the author).
D. D. In connection with the title JOY, the book refers to several institutions. From the famous Radost Children' s Home, via the Radost Retirement Home, Home of the Soul of Joy, to the RADOST Cooperative Workshops, which are analogies to the little-known part, (never fully launched), associated production project of the JZD Sluš…., later renamed the Cooperative Agro-Combined Plant Sluš…., which, according to unverified sources, could have been a private asylum for the leaders of the party and state and where did you go, according to the advertising slogan of the time, " they didn' t even have to be ashamed to push their own dad. " How did it all turn out? we know from the context of the time, Another has risen to power, no less " crazy", Agro-combinat, analogy, for your own good, don' t look. The poet Pumlický had a timeless verse prepared for such cases (more in the book), after all, poetry is an expression of JOY. Joy D. D. is still just a prosaic expression of a cliché from the time, according to which the happiest people in the world are fools, because they do not measure their JOY by the opinions of others. As written by C. G. Jung – “The spirit of the times cannot be grasped by the categories of human reason. It is something like a " penchant, " an emotional inclination which, for unconscious reasons, acts with irresistible suggestiveness on all weaker spirits and carries them away with it. " (1) Do you get carried away by reading? Don' t be ridiculous, A book of you lunatics, if you are no longer one, will not do, even though reading such things, is always considered. Consider, reflect, REJOICE! Your ready-made savior Horáček is coming.
