Jiří Adamíra

Jiří Adamíra was one of the greatest Czech actors of the second half of the twentieth century. His breathtaking performances were built not only on his undeniable talent, but also on his sharp intellect, profound knowledge, thoughtful approach to his roles, and sense of responsibility towards the audience. His fascinating personal charisma was combined with a precise dose of disarming dry humour and irony. Alongside an admirable career, lined with hundreds of perfectly portrayed roles, he also lived an interesting personal story, which was unfortunately cut short by a insidious disease. This very first publication dedicated to this great actor explores both of these life paths of Jiří Adamíra, based not only on a thorough study of all available sources, but also thanks to unique and unpublished testimonies from colleagues, life partners, and friends.
