Inclusive Special Education
Inclusion is a topic that resonates not only among pedagogical experts and professionals in school practice, but thanks to relatively intense media coverage (in both a positive and negative sense), the majority of the public has undoubtedly encountered this issue. The inclusive approach in education is already described in a number of Czech publications, but not in a sufficiently clear, transparent and comprehensive way.
Therefore, there is considerable confusion among experts about the understanding and especially the application of this approach in school and out-of-school education, as well as in the broader meaning of inclusion as a social concept.
The relationship between inclusive pedagogy (as a newly emerging pedagogical discipline) and special pedagogy (as a well-established discipline with a long tradition in Czech education and in other areas related to the lives of people with disabilities or disadvantages, including children, pupils and students with special educational needs) remains completely unclear.
The book offers the readers a definition and clarification of the areas of inclusive and special pedagogy, which the author has long been involved in theoretically, research, publications and direct practice, and especially their connection in the concept of inclusive special pedagogy.
It can therefore be beneficial not only for professionals in the field of pedagogy and education, social work or other helping professions in academia and professional practice, but it will serve equally well as a textbook for students in a number of related fields (teaching, social work, psychology, Sociology, medical disciplines, etc. ), especially at tertiary and lifelong learning levels. All the more so because the content presented has not been published in a similar way in our country so far.
