Immigration Policy in the European Union 2009–2014
This book deals with the issue of immigration policy in the European Union from 2009–2014, i.e. the period after the Treaty of Lisbon and before the outbreak of the migration crisis in 2015. It analyses the way in which the national immigration policies of the EU member states developed in the post-Lisbon regime, in the context of reflecting the principles and rules established at the European level, and how active a role the member states play in the creation of these rules at the EU level. The first part of the publication focuses on the horizontal aspects of EU immigration policy—the legal framework, the security dimension, and the external dimension. The second part is dedicated to a comparative study of selected EU member states.
