The queen of Icelandic crime comes up with a chilling thriller
When three young people from Reykjavik decide to buy a house in an abandoned village in the desolate Westfjords, they have no idea what awaits them. What will be revealed and what will be awakened.
Gardar, his wife Katrín and their mutual friend Líf want to start renovating the house, but soon strange things start happening. Wet footprints appear on the floor, someone is scattering sea shells around the rooms, strange noises are heard. Their cell phones mysteriously die and the boat is not due to come for them for several days. There is no other way out of that freezing wasteland. They're all alone. Or not...?
In a small town on the other side of the fjord, police officer Dagný and her friend, psychiatrist Freyr, investigate a series of unnatural deaths. The trail leads to dusty archives with police files from the last century. But how could the crimes of that time be related to the recent mysterious disappearance of Freyr's young son.
The mysteries pile on top of each other and slowly begin to connect into a chain of terrifying events. The terrible truth must be revealed. The dead sometimes remember more than we would like... But if you want to say "It's just a writer's fantasy", don't be so sure and know that the story is (at least partly) based on real events.
