I loved Ingrid Bergman

It is March 1945. War photographer Robert Capa, famous for his photographs of the Spanish Civil War and the Allied landings in Normandy, parachutes into German territory to document the advance of the victorious American army.

Cut. The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences awards are presented at the Grauman's Chinese Theatre in Los Angeles. The award for Best Actress goes to the charming actress Ingrid Bergman, wife of dentist Petter Lindström and mother of a young daughter.

Cut. Three months later. Paris. They meet in the lobby of the Ritz Hotel and when the charmed Capa leaves a dinner invitation under the door of the actress's room, a love affair like no other begins. A casual flirtation grows into a passionate relationship, plagued by the complicated characters and emotional burdens of both protagonists.

Bohemian Capa likes to spend his mornings reading in the bath and his afternoons betting at the races. But his carefree attitude is just a facade. Inside, he is tormented by memories of the war, his father's suicide and the tragic death of his former lover, which he blames on himself. In Ingrid's arms he seeks salvation, but first he must defeat his demons: addiction to adrenaline, gambling and drinking – and the urge to engage in another war.

Bergman maneuvers between wasted nights in the lights of Paris and a sparkless marriage in an effort to avoid a scandal that could irrevocably damage her career and reputation. Desperate to be with Capa, Ingrid vows to end the marriage. But circumstances come into play that neither of them can predict…
