I don't remember my name
“ I can't remember my name, ” the young woman repeats over and over to herself, looking out the window of the moving train. He's heading to a small village in Whiltshire – a train ticket and found the address in her coat pocket. Those are the only things he can hold on to. On arrival in London, she could not remember her name or how she lost her handbag. The man behind the lost-and-found desk advised her to go home, because in familiar surroundings, short-term memory loss usually goes away quickly…
Late in the evening he arrives at the place and rings the bell of a small house with a thatched roof. “ I live here, this is my house, ” she'll tell Tony and Laura, who'll open the door for her. The young couple invite her in, but both of them agree that the house belongs to them and neither of them knows her. But she's surprisingly well oriented in their home.
Tony and Laura are very helpful and want to help her, but at the same time they don't know what to think of her. A girl who doesn't remember her own name but is well aware of their worried looks. The only thing he knows for sure is that at least one person here is lying to everyone in cold blood.
I Don't Remember My Name is a great psychological thriller full of unexpected twists and turns. The author skillfully changes the point of view, offering the perspective of the main protagonists and others involved, thus convincingly sketching the characters and thickening the tension. Thiller on how memory can be deceiving. And that collecting seahorses is far from being an innocent hobby.
