Josefina and Commissioner Tvrdík enjoy a well-deserved holiday in Karlovy Vary. However, the spa idyll comes to an abrupt end with the arrival of Tvrdík's fifteen-year-old daughter Ludmila and his indestructible aunt Václava. In addition, dead animals turn up in the luxury hotel, the uncompromising regional sanitary inspector Julius Šlem arrives and the chaos escalates with the death of the hotel manager Iveta Lehká.

The city's Philly night celebrations are underway, and there are no shortage of suspects. Was the murder committed by the hotel manager, the engineer Brousil, the jealous husband of the victim, one of the employees or the intolerant high school professor Rudlik? And how do Jirka Pazderka and his grandmother fit into all this?

Josefina is not only solving the intricate murder of a hotel operator, but she is also forced to face the pitfalls prepared by Tvrdík's family. Will she keep her sanity and her relationship with the Commissioner in spite of everything? And will her grandmother's wisdom help her survive all the escapades and difficult situations?
