Heroes of Nothing
They tempt death to truly live.
There are five of them, but in reality there are many more. They were born into security and prosperity, but something is still missing. Outwardly, each of them is a valid member of society. They go to work, they turn the wheels of capitalism, they weave the threads of partnership relationships. But inside there are renegades for whom life is too easy and the stakes are negligibly low. They can do anything—and that is their curse.
In a time emptied of real concerns, they want to experience something real. Something strong. And so they drink uncontrollably and take risks, because even a bad emotion is better than feeling nothing at all. Facing fear and looking death in the eye — that is their recipe for life. Fights, climbing cranes, jumping on trains, heated chases with the police in the streets of Prague.
In another time perhaps heroes, in times of peace and prosperity damned. They live fast—and it can only end one way. Or is it?

They wrote about the book:
While in earlier times, the suffering and fear experienced often led to the breakdown of values and loss of meaning, František Voldřich shows how easily these experiences can become the only meaningful fulfillment of life. And surprisingly little is needed to do this — to feel too good. The book is a powerful generational statement by today' s twentysomethings, which raises a number of questions. Among other things, how we, the previous generations, have contributed to this fact.

Everyone has probably experienced the feeling that life is something more – something more than a drudgery of career work and a hobby here and there to make it bearable. That life is supposed to be an epic journey full of adventure and danger. But what if it' s not just a feeling, but an inner identity? This book maps the fates of such people. Heroes living in the safest and most prosperous historical era, which does not value their heroism.
