Heart of Stone

Milada is the only child of Jindřich of Licharnice. She has managed to be the son he always wanted. She can hunt and fight, and she refuses to marry so as not to lose her freedom. Her father's tragic death interrupts any wedding plans, but even in her time of mourning, she cannot avoid choosing a suitor, a title reserved for the one who can fulfil a difficult condition.

However, the castle soon falls into enemy hands. The robber knight Vlado of Šolfen spreads only evil around him. After every raid, he leaves behind raped women, destroyed property, and dead bodies. He also has certain intentions for the widow of Licharnice, Kateřina, and takes cruel revenge on her for refusing his marriage proposal.

Milada flees and wanders the countryside. She had no idea how easily she would be won over by her first true love. She gladly marries. But a betrayal by someone close to her thwarts their happy marriage. She finds herself a captive along with other women. However, love, help, and friendship come from people from whom she would never have expected it.
