The textbook is intended for students of secondary vocational schools in the field of social care and for workers who are beginning to practice social work. The second part deals with the issue of health and disease, gives their definition, describes selected groups of diseases and disabilities in addition to determinants of health, lifestyle and disease prevention. It includes model cases from practical life, which can bring the situation of a patient with a specific diagnosis closer to life.
The chapters are supplemented with review questions and a summary of concepts to remember. The aim of the textbook is to present the issue of health and illness in such a way that students in their future practice will be able to properly care for clients with different types of diseases, to recognize their risks and to prevent them.
