Happy Hour

Happy Hour is a remarkable, intimate collection of fifty stories from living personalities. “When our words find a home, we experience a happy hour,” was how the author welcomed her guests week after week on her live Czech Radio Regina broadcast. With this book, she returns to these quiet, unique encounters to capture what is disappearing from our lives and what remains. Happy Hour brings together people from the most diverse professions and generations. Actors Iva Janžurová, Blanka Bohdanová, Josef Somr, Libuše Švormová, Zuzana Kronerová, Jitka Molavcová, Barbora Srncová, and Kristýna Frejová; musicians and singers Jana Koubková, Zuzana Lapčíková, Jiří Pavlica, Marie Rottrová, Jitka Zelenková, and Marta Kubišová; footballers Vladimír Šmicer and Jan Suchopárek; psychiatrist Cyril Höschl; priest and philosopher Tomáš Halík; directors Miloš Horanský and Miroslav Krobot, and many others. The life of each of them stands on its own. Together, however, they form a testament to all of us. This narrative book, in a luxurious cloth binding, is adorned with photographs by the world-renowned photographer Eva Fuková, with graphic design by Filip Skalák.
