The ordinary girl Alina Starkov has become the Sun Summoner. Many place their hopes in her—after all, she is the only one who can destroy the Shadow Fold that has long plagued the land. But the price she pays for it is high. She longs to live somewhere in seclusion with her beloved Mal by her side, but instead, she is constantly fleeing and hiding from her past. The Darkling is more determined than ever to use her abilities to claim the throne. Alina cannot face his powerful magic alone, so she seeks help from a wild and unpredictable privateer. Only he is fearless and willing to help her. Alina tries to resist the Darkling's traps. Yet she becomes entangled in them, distancing herself from the love in which she has sought refuge until now. Nothing comes for free, and she feels with a burning urgency that if she wants to save Ravka, she will have to choose. Will she keep her exceptional power and save the country, or will she give it up, listen to her heart, and choose love? A wild storm, an internal battle, awaits her. Will she emerge as a victor or a loser?

Leigh Bardugo
Leigh Bardugo was born in Jerusalem in 1975, but grew up in Los Angeles in the United States. After graduating from Yale University, she worked in advertising, as a journalist, and eventually as a make-up artist and special effects expert. She now lives and writes in Hollywood, where she can occasionally be heard singing with her band. She set her first three short stories in the complex fantasy world of the Grisha, which is inspired by Tsarist Russia and is not easy to imagine. In 2012, she published the first volume of the Grisha trilogy, entitled Shadow and Bone, which immediately became a New York Times bestseller. A year later, the second volume, Siege and Storm, followed, which also quickly became a bestseller. In 2014, the final volume of the trilogy, Ruin and Rising, was released. In the autumn of 2015, the author published another book set in the same world but with different characters. The title Six of Crows was met with enthusiastic acclaim from readers, as was its 2016 sequel, Crooked Kingdom.
