Generalized anxiety disorder in clinical practice

The book is devoted to one of the most common chronic neurotic spectrum disorders, which significantly impairs the quality of life of the patient and their loved ones and causes them significant suffering. It is often not recognised and the patient is misdiagnosed; is treated for perceived physical illnesses by a general practitioner and in somatic wards rather than receiving specialist psychiatric care.
The monograph deals with diagnostics, etiopathogenesis and treatment of this serious psychiatric disorder, a description of the comorbidity, differential diagnosis and social aspects, that are associated with generalized anxiety disorder, among other things, stigmatization and self-stigmatization. The treatment section shows the most important pharmacological and psychotherapeutic procedures, including current algorithms. The publication is intended primarily for clinicians, especially psychiatrists and psychologists, but also for general practitioners and counsellors who deal with patients with generalised anxiety disorder both diagnostically, therapeutically and counsellingly.
