The fate of the last noblewoman of the Battaglia family. From the bestselling author of Podbrdské ženy.
In a crumbling manor house in Bratronice, South Bohemia, Blanka, the last member of the noble Battaglia family, is living out her final days. The lonely old baroness lacks the strength to care for the building and grounds that have belonged to her family for generations, and so she silently watches their slow decay and ruin. She knows she is the last of her line and has little time left. An unexpected visitor rouses her from her lethargy. Journalism student Klára arrives in Bratronice to write an article about the baroness. Her conversations with Klára prompt Blanka to look back on her past, her once vibrant life – and her fateful love, which left her with nothing but a letter she has never read.
Reviews:
Cyklistka is a gentle story of a girl who loved the feeling of freedom on the pedals. She longed to be free, but at the same time, she was capable of incredible love. However, she lived in difficult times, which took a toll on her later years. I recommend it to all readers of Jana Poncarová's books and to everyone who enjoys social and historical novels. This book is a real treat for the soul!

The author builds her story on a solid foundation, gradually layering it across time into a majestic monument to the life of the last baroness. Once again, there is no shortage of rich, descriptive prose that guides you towards the main storyline and draws you deeper into the plot.
