Family Council

The novella Family Council is a bittersweet and humorous testimony to the clash between two ageing brothers, Marek and Ivan, as they care for their infirm mother. Their contrasting personalities, different relationships with the past, opposing political preferences and divergent value hierarchies escalate into a series of intense scenes, drawing in their children and both past and present family partners. Through the narrator's attempt to help resolve the challenging situation, we witness a conflict that mirrors a divided world against the backdrop of a contemporary family.
