Giant aliens are wiping out one colony after another, while humans fight amongst themselves over what's left…
Andrew Grayson survived his first combat “encounter” with the Lankies. Millions of Earth colonists on the planets the Lankies decided to terraform were not so lucky. True to their name and standing over twenty-four metres tall, they treat humans like bothersome insects that just need to be sprayed with insecticide…
The Lankies make no distinction between the North American Commonwealth or the Sino-Russian Alliance when wiping out colonies, but even this has not forced the two warring sides to stop their bloody battles for new colonies. As a result, Earth is on the brink of economic collapse, and civil unrest is a daily occurrence. This unrest is being suppressed with increasing brutality, and mutinies among the security forces are not uncommon. The incompetent high command is trying to get rid of these rebels in a creative way – by transferring them to remote colonies in the naive belief that this will pacify them.
This is how, on a frozen moon named New Longyearbyen, Andrew Grayson meets Sergeant Fallon again after a long time. Of course, the Sergeant is one of the rebels who has been shunted off to the periphery of the galaxy.
The first conflict is not long in coming, especially with an arrogant general giving orders from the warmth and safety of his office…
