The first volume of a new detective series by a successful Icelandic author
A young woman is brutally murdered in her home in Reykjavik. The only witness is her seven-year-old daughter. When another woman is murdered shortly afterwards, the police are at a loss.
An amateur radio operator picks up strange messages linking him to the two murdered men, and so, driven by curiosity, he begins to investigate on his own.
Huldar, the police officer in charge of the investigation, and Freyja, the psychologist who is interrogating a seven-year-old girl - a key witness - have to work side by side. Their collaboration is complicated by the fact that they recently slept together after meeting in a bar where Huldar pretended to be a carpenter from the countryside.
