Death in the Tatras

Investigative photographer Karovič and reporter Ucho find themselves in the snowy Tatra Mountains, brought there by the mysterious death of a mother of two. The snow traps them in the mountains for a few days, where they begin to unravel a criminal tangle. Journalist Roberta and a photographer from a rival daily newspaper are breathing down their necks. The fresh mountain air and the magic of the High Tatras captivate them. In the heat of their investigative search, Karovič and the young Ucho meet women who both enchant and wound them.

Peter Gašparík (1977, Bratislava). He studied directing at the Academy of Performing Arts in Bratislava (VŠMU) and also in Italy, France, and the USA. Besides directing (documentaries Tereza – Náboj lásky, STOPY - Boje v Banskej Štiavnici), he writes poetry and prose. His published books include Kúsok môjho srdca, Čo som (ne)urobil, (ne)urobil som, Šelmy a hyeny, and Ružová vila, as well as the crime novels Smrť na Zlatých, Smrť v Štiavnici, Smrť v kostole, and Smrť v Tatrách. He has also worked in translation and business.
