A better world is not for everyone
Together with her husband she came to build a utopian world in the middle of pure nature. Helena, an aspiring doctor and also the wife of the director of an artificial fibre factory, is about to give birth and her family is facing a rosy future in a modern city growing up in the foothills of the Slovak Tatras. However, all illusions and thoughts about the future are soon overshadowed by the discovery of a dead newborn - a hermaphrodite. Stubborn and empathetic, Helena needs to find out what happened for the safety of her own child and refuses to settle for a seemingly quick fix.... The psychological detective drama by director Matěj Chlupáček and screenwriter Miro Šifra, inspired by the real history of intersex people in the 1930s, was translated into book form by Jiří Walker Procházka.
