I am Brother-Sergeant Nikl. A cryosoldier, a member of the elite Black Brotherhood.

A man torn from a normal life, teetering on the path between darkness and light, between long-term hibernation in a cryomodule and combat. A warrior who dreams of Paradise—a planet with a tropical climate—where he will be rewarded for his service to the cryo-order of Metal. But then... Theomachia happened. An uninhabited, semi-desert planet in the Tau Boötis binary star system, where Metal's leading scientist, Zachary Anastasius, has retreated to work in seclusion on weapons systems for use in the fight against rival cryo-orders. His sanctuary has been discovered by the enemy, and the task for me and my brothers is to evacuate him.
But… something isn’t right with Theomachia. Our scanners don't work there, and it's shrouded in a strange fog that conceals monsters, monsters that seem to have come from my oldest nightmares. What's more, Dr Anastasius has vanished without a trace. The deeper we delve into the habitats he shared with his family and assistants, the more the strange phenomena—and my fear—grow. At the same time, I must face questions I would rather have never asked myself.
Will I... will I ever get to Paradise? Or is my destiny to be a soldier forever, until death comes for me?
