Felix Francis' thrilling whodunit set in the racing world Krize
Harrison Foster works as a crisis director for a London firm specialising in legal affairs. After a fire at the Chadwick stables, in which six very valuable horses die, including the Derby favourite, he is called to Newmarket. Harry discovers that it was probably not a simple fire, and human remains are also found at the scene. None of the employees are missing, so who's the burn victim?
Harry knows very little about horses, doesn't really like them, but is unwittingly drawn into the world of Thoroughbred racing, where the horse stars get more attention than the humans. The Chadwicks are a racing dynasty with dysfunctional family relationships. There is resentment and sibling rivalry between the generations, bubbling up like volcanic magma under a fragile layer of respectability. Harry meets the owner of the Derby favourite, and as he delves deeper into the unanswered questions surrounding the horse's death, he finds his life in danger.
