Crime on the Silver Screen
SHERLOCK HOLMES HAS A BRILLIANT MIND. ELIÁŠ SATTLER ALSO HAS A PERFECT SENSE OF SMELL
The golden twenties are in full swing and the First Republic is flourishing. Few suspect that an economic crisis is just around the corner; people are enjoying themselves in cinemas, cabarets, and cafés. The Barrandov Terraces attract Prague's high society, especially the stars of the silver screen. Plans are underway to build a world-class studio, and cinematography is facing a new challenge…
The race to make the first Czechoslovak sound film is in full flow – and when problems delay the production of one of them, the author of the original story asks private investigator Eliáš Sattler for help. Soon after, however, one of the key players dies. Was it suicide, or is there a murderer among the filmmakers? Sattler discovers that everyone involved had a reason to get rid of the person in question. And what about the peculiar scent that haunts Sattler's extraordinarily sensitive nose?
In the world of Lamač, Longen, and Slavínský, with whispers of the groundbreaking film *Erotikon* being shot, and with Frič and Burian just starting out, Eliáš Sattler and his friend Adam Křížek must not be blinded by the glare of the spotlights – because danger lurks behind it.
