Church towers and belfries

The only book in the Czech Republic dealing with the issue of repairs and rehabilitation of church towers and bell towers, especially in terms of static and dynamic loading (from bells), detailed description of failures and proposals for solutions. The book is divided into two parts for designers and architects, campanologists, investment engineers, forensic experts and conservation officers. The first part deals with campanology (bells), the bell system, the placement, suspension and drive of the bells. The author provides information about new and historic bells, about the operation, repair and maintenance of the bells, and about the safety rules that must be observed in the tower. The second part is devoted to the principles for the design of church towers, bell towers, tower roofs, construction problems and their solutions. The book is supplemented with a rich pictorial appendix.
