Childhood is not just

A novel in which the author returns, with lightness and empathy, to her own childhood in socialist Czechoslovakia. Tonička's story blends the joys, mishaps, and embarrassments that shape everyone, with the worries that disrupt a fragile childhood world. Everyday family and school dramas unassumingly bring the social situation of the time to life. The result is a narrative that entertains and captivates with a perspective that intertwines a child's view of the world with adult reflection.
