Celebrities

“Fame is my life. Was I ready for such success? Of course I was.”
Cleo has known she was different since she was a little girl. Since childhood, she has had only one obsession: to become famous. Over the years, she has overcome every obstacle that stood in the way of her goal, seized every victory with both hands, and etched every defeat into her leg. To the surprise of everyone but herself, Cleo truly became a global star, a multi-award winner, the owner of a luxury villa in LA with millions of dollars in her bank account.
At thirty-three, she allows herself a luxury holiday for the first time – and leaves for a deserted island. Finally, in absolute peace, away from the crazy spiral of a pop star's life and without the ever-present paparazzi, she is composing her fourth album. And she has plenty of time to think about how she got where she is…
One of the most interesting authors of the current generation draws the reader into the head of a pop star who has the world at her feet, into the world of celebrities, where extreme competitiveness, ruthlessness and – impunity – reign. A scathing novel about the world of show business, the price of fame, and an era captivated by the dazzling glow of a select few, which gets deep under your skin. Not just for fans of the films The Talented Mr. Ripley and Triangle of Sadness.
