Captain William Kidd and Others of The Buccaneers

In this biography, John S. C. Abbott focuses on the infamous Scottish sailor turned pirate, Captain William Kidd. The book is supplemented by other buccaneer stories—buccaneers being a term for privateers or sailors for hire, specific to the Caribbean Sea. Pirate life in the 18th century was very different from how it is commonly depicted in films and novels, and Abbott helps the reader understand what it was really like, what it entailed, and what repercussions the choice of a pirate life could have.
