Butterfly Book

Imagine your skin is as fragile as a butterfly's wings. Even the seam on your clothes can injure you. Sometimes you can't swallow; nothing will pass down your oesophagus. Olga Joklová, who suffered from what is known as butterfly wing disease, could tell you what it's like to live with such fragility. Unfortunately, she can no longer do so in person. Olga spent most of her life speaking honestly about her illness, trying to help all those born with it and to open the eyes of those who have no idea of such pain. Olga wrote down her thoughts and observations in various diaries and notebooks. Petr Borkovec, Marek Šindelka, Lucie Faulerová, Jakub König, Jonáš Zbořil, Anna Bolavá, and A. Gravensteen have now followed up on her records with their own short stories. Lukáš Musil accompanied them with illustrations.

The result is a diverse collection of short stories that is both a tribute to one extraordinary woman and an homage to all the fragile and brave. By purchasing it, you will contribute to the Debra organisation, which helps people with butterfly wing disease to live as much as possible and suffer as little as possible.
