Breclav - Pohansko XI.
The book summarizes the results of research that describe the process of the formation of early medieval Slavic society in Central Europe using the example of early medieval Moravia. In the second half of the first millennium AD. l. a profound social transformation took place in what is now Moravia. Moravia was at that time a place where people of a common habit lived, traditionally known as Slavs, who first appeared in Central Europe with the end of the Migration of Peoples. It is assumed that the Slavs initially lived in an open society with a lower standard of living (6. -7. century). During the 8th cent. this society was replaced, probably under the influence of external pressure, by a hierarchically structured society with normative regulation, in which a new layer of nobility began to emerge.
The main aim of this book is to publish archaeological findings, field information and other empirical material, which were obtained in Pohansko near Breclav and in its wider surroundings (Breclav-Lány, Breclav-Líbivá, Kostice-Zadní hrúd) in the last 30 years, on settlements dating from the 6th to the 8th century. (RS1/550-650 n. l. and RS2/650-800 n. l. ). On the basis of these data, some partial conclusions and interpretations can be formulated about the social processes that ultimately led to the formation of a new type of early medieval society in the territory of present-day Moravia, specifically in the Lower Podyjí region.
